Movies @ 3/23/2008 09:27:00 PM

Recently, Ter brought me to watch two movie this month....

They are:

1) Rule Number One
Rookie Sergeant Lee (Shawn Yue) is injured in a shoot-out and is assigned to the dubious-sounding Miscellaneous Affairs Department (MAD). There, he is paired up with Inspector Wong (Ekin Cheng), a jaded and alcoholic veteran who explains that MAD's role is to answer supernatural calls. Wong explains MAD's rule number one - there are no ghosts. For every seemingly inexplicable phenomenon, there is a corresponding scientific and rational explanation. MAD begins investigating a string of bizarre teenage suicides - impossible suicides, unless the victims were possessed. As Lee and Wong follow the clues, they realise something sinister is heading their way.

Very interesting plot on how this serial killer was killed and turned into a ghost for revenge. In this movie, when a ghost touches a human being, the human being will be possessed by the ghost. It is like a virus. When one gets infected, the virus can be passed on to another being by touch. What I really hated was, everybody got possessed in the end. Fiona really pulled her role off well. Before the movie ended, Lao ti ko did something to her so despicable that describes his sickening character. This is a 100% improvement compared to previous movie filmed; Men In White. This may not be the best horror movie but it will be a thrilling one for horror movie fans as there were some successful scares scenes.

2) Semi Pro
Set in 1976, "Semi-Pro" tells the story of the maverick ABA - a fresh basketball league that rivaled the NBA and made a name for itself with innovations like the three-point shot and slam-dunk contest. Will Ferrell plays Jackie Moon, a one-hit wonder who used the profits from the success of his chart-topping song "Love Me Sexy" to achieve his dream of owning a basketball team. But Moon's franchise, the Flint Michigan Tropics, is the worst team in the league and in danger of folding when the ABA announces its plans to merge with the NBA. If they want to survive, Jackie and the Tropics must now do the seemingly impossible - win.

The movie begins very creatively, when the Love Me Sexy song playing, I couldn't contain my laughter anymore. As the movie goes on, you'll start realising there's really some good characters that bring out even more random lines yet uproarious laughter. The story is very typical of a lousy basketball team trying to make it into NBA merger, but to do that they have to be the Top 4 in National Standards, and a fan base of 2000. Jackie Moon did advertisments, promotions and everything funny and invited Monix, a sort-of basketball expert to coach them. The jokes may be kinda random, but thinking of it you may just laugh. Everybody Loves Everybody.

If you are tinking of watching the movie, dun hesitate go ahead ba... :P
